Show me the way

Jo-sætra is a small company based in Oppdal with Inger Hanne and Arne Vidar. In 2013, they started developing products from what the nature around them had to offer. A long-standing hobby turned into a livelihood. It started with cricket juice, birch juice and rhubarb products.

Today they have around 150 products. They pick the raw materials for juice, syrup, jelly and jam themselves. In addition, they grow rhubarb, pumpkins, chillies, mint and gorse. They also make 8 types of drinks. In 2016, they bought a closed slaughterhouse where they have production, their animals and where they live. In the spring of 2020, they opened a farm shop here as well.

Their animals are Duroc pigs that go on mountain pastures all summer, Hungarian woolly pigs (Mangalitsa) live on their farm and go in and out as they please all year round. Their lambs go to mountain pasture on the sætra in the summer. They process all the animals themselves. They also buy up Merino sheep, which they process and make, among other things, meatballs from. They taste different than regular sheep. They also make traditional food such as herring balls, potato balls, songraut and sunndals porridge.
